EL VY, a new band from The National frontman Matt Berninger and Menomena’s Brent Knopf, are set to play London in December.
The group (whose name rhymes with “hell pie”) play Electric Ballroom in Camden on 10 December in support of their debut album, ‘Return To The Moon’.
The album, due for release on 30 October, is a project The National singer and the Portland-based musician have been considering for years. Berninger and Knopf have known each other since their bands toured America’s west coast almost a decade ago.
Having stayed in touch over the ensuing years, Knopf would occasionally send rough music sketches that Berninger would add melodies and lyrics to. The pair finally got together as EL VY in late 2014 and early 2015 to record a full-length album.
Berninger and Knopf, who’s also known for his band Ramona Falls, are hitting the road with a touring band, playing multiple US cities in November before reaching Europe in December.
Tickets for the EL VY show at Electric Ballroom in Camden go on sale on 7 August 2015.
