King King thundering to Wembley Arena

King King have been announced as the support band for Thunder’s February 2016 UK arena tour, which includes a London stop.

The British blues rock band will be joining their hard rock countrymen at Wembley Arena on 20 February 2016, just a few months after they hit the capital on their own headlining tour.

On 11 November 2015 the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour Awards nominees for Best New Band, play the O2 Academy in Islington with support from blues rock guitarist Ben Poole and singer Rebecca Downes.

The shows top off a busy 2015 for the Glaswegian quartet who released their third studio album, ‘Reaching For The Light’, in May.

“Our schedule is so busy,” says singer-guitarist Alan Nimmo. “But you’ve just got to run with it.”

And, quite frankly, they’re used to working hard. It’s what Nimmo and his bandmates Lindsay Coulson (bass), Wayne Proctor (drums), and Bob Fridzema (keys) have been doing for the past five years.

“We all want to take this band as far as we can,” explains Nimmo. “You want to sell as many albums as possible, and anyone who says they don’t enjoy five-star reviews is lying. But most important is that we’ve got a great album that people can listen to and enjoy. That’s what really matters – and that’s the truth.”

That album, ‘Reaching For The Light’, came hot off their five victories at the 2014 British Blues Awards, including Best Band (for a third consecutive year) and Best Album for 2013’s ‘Standing In The Shadows’.

Tickets for Thunder’s February 2016 arena tour with King King go on general sale on 25 September via Ticketmaster.
