Grimes making a London comeback

Grimes returns with her fourth album (imminently) and a headline tour (next year).

The AC!D Reign European trek, which kicks off in Berlin in February, includes a stop at the O2 Brixton Academy on 10 March 2016.

The Canadian musician, real name Claire Boucher, will be supported by synth-pop performer HANA.

The 2016 tour, which follows a few support dates on Lana Del Rey’s Endless Summer tour, is her first since she finished promoting 2012’s breakthrough album ‘Visions’.

Grimes was first conceived in 2010, four years after Boucher moved to Montreal from Vancouver, as part of the city’s DIY scene where punk ethos and pop music collide. ‘Visions’ — incorporating influences as wide as Enya, TLC, and Aphex Twin, whilst drawing from genres like New Jack Swing, new age, K-pop, industrial, and glitch — was her fourth release in less than two years and songs like ‘Genesis’ saw her break into the mainstream.

She re-emerged earlier this year with the song ‘REALiTi’ and a collaboration with Bleachers called ‘Entropy’, written for the TV show ‘Girls’.
