Shannon and the Clams have unveiled their latest music video just days ahead of a show in London next week.
‘It’s Too Late’, featured in the clip directed by Ryan Browne, is taken from the San Francisco Bay area band’s latest album, ‘Gone By The Dawn’.
The garage punk trio will be performing songs from it and their previous three albums — ‘I Wanna Go Home’, ‘Sleep Talk’, and ‘Dreams in the Rat House’ — at Oslo in London on 11 November 2015.
Cody Blanchard (singer and guitarist), Shannon Shaw (singer and bassist), and Nate Mayhem (drummer and keys) were drawn separately to Oakland, California where they began playing house parties and grimy clubs, shaping a sound influenced by classic R&B, surf, garage, and doo-wop.
Six years later, ‘Gone by the Dawn’ finds the band being even more adventurous: the music is complex, the lyrical content emotionally raw and honest, and the production the strangest it’s ever been.
The album, written as one member was recovering from a serious breakup and another was deep in one, was recorded with Sonny Smith at Tiny Telephone Recording in San Francisco. Best known as the driving force behind Sonny and the Sunsets, Smith pushed the trio beyond their signature Lou Christie-meets-The Circle Jerks sound.
Hear the results at Oslo in Hackney next week.
