Foreigner getting Urgent at London Palladium

Foreigner are bringing 40 years of classic rock hits to London in 2016.

The band are bringing enduring anthems like ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’, ‘Juke Box Hero’, and ‘Urgent’ to the Palladium Theatre on 7 June as part of their European summer tour.

Tickets go on sale on 20 November 2015.

Founded by lead guitarist Mick Jones in 1976, Foreigner hit the big time when their debut album produced the hits ‘Feels Like The First Time’, ‘Cold As Ice’, and ‘Long, Long Way From Home’. ‘Double Vision’ followed and with it more hits like ‘Waiting For A Girl Like You’, the #1 Billboard album ‘4’, and 1984’s platinum-selling ‘Agent Provocateur’. All counted, the band have 10 multi-platinum albums, 16 Top 30 hits, and unit sales in excess of 75 million to their name.

A new era dawned for Foreigner when vocalist Kelly Hansen joined the lineup in 2005 — the same year the group returned to the Billboard charts with their live greatest hits album, ‘Extended Versions’. Featuring the radio hits ‘In Pieces’ and ‘When It Comes To Love’, ‘Can’t Slow Down’ followed in 2009.

Foreigner experienced another surge in popularity when their hits were featured on the soundtracks of major Hollywood films like ‘Rock Of Ages’, ‘Anchorman 2’, ‘Magic Mike’, and ‘Pitch Perfect’, as well as in the games ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ and ‘BandFuse’.

In 2013, the Grammy- and Golden Globe-nominated Jones was inducted to the Songwriters Hall Of Fame for his work with Foreigner as well as collaborations with such superstars as Eric Clapton and Ozzy Osbourne.

Last year the guitarist — and producer of such classic ‘80s albums as Van Halen’s ‘5150’ — received RIAA gold and platinum digital awards for six Foreigner songs, signifying downloads of 500 000 and 1 000 000 and highlighting the group’s enduring popularity.

“Our music has touched a lot of people worldwide,” says Jones. “Unwittingly, we’ve weaved into the fabric of people’s lives.”

Remember why when Foreigner — Jones, Hansen, Jeff Pilson (bass, vocals), Michael Bluestein (keyboards), Tom Gimbel (rhythm guitar, sax, vocals), Bruce Watson (guitar), and Chris Frazier (drums) — hit the London Palladium stage on 7 June 2016.
