Cage The Elephant are returning to the UK for the first time since playing with Foals at Alexandra Palace in February 2014.
The Kentucky band, who release their new album ‘Tell Me I’m Pretty’ on 18 December, play The O2 Forum in Kentish Town on 11 February 2016 as part of an extensive national tour that also swings through cities like Liverpool, Manchester, and Newcastle.
With ‘Tell Me I’m Pretty’ singer Matt Shultz, guitarist Brad Shultz, bassist Daniel Tichenor, and drummer Jared Champion are building on the advances they made with its Grammy-nominated predecessor, 2013’s ‘Melophobia’, and drawing from the sounds that initially inspired them to start making music.
“With this record, we wanted to be more transparent,” says Matt Shultz. “We wanted to capture the sentiment of each song, and whatever emotional response it provoked, to be really honest to that.”
So, with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys in the producer’s chair, they recorded most of the songs on the first take, capturing that emotional response as well as the energy of their live shows.
The band, who broke into the public consciousness when 2011’s ‘Thank You Happy Birthday‘ debuted at number two on the Billboard Top 200 chart, have toured extensively and performed alongside the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, and Foo Fighters.
And now ‘Tell Me I’m Pretty’ looks set to continue the success of ‘Melophobia’, which spawned two Alternative chart-topping singles ‘Come a Little Closer’ and ‘Cigarette Daydreams’.
