Frankie Cosmos is headed to London for the first time, in support of her second full-length album.
‘Next Thing’, the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Zentropy’, is due for release on 1 April. Just over a month later she and her three-piece backing band hit the UK for a co-headline tour with Porches that reaches Oslo in London on 23 May 2016.
‘Is It Possible / Sleep Song’ has been released ahead of the shows and album release.
“The song is about questioning your surroundings and wondering about change,” explains Frankie Cosmos mastermind Greta Kline, “so I saw it fitting to have all the band members, past and present, be singing in the video, together and alone, floating in front of scenes that show movement and rest.”
Billed as Kline’s most infectious work to date, ‘Next Thing’ builds on her early reputation as a leading voice in the DIY music scene in New York. Her lo-fi bedroom recordings, self-released online, culminated in ‘Zentropy’ being named the year’s #1 Pop album by New York Magazine.
By 2015 she’d signed to Bayonet Records, released the EP ‘Fit Me In’ that found her experimenting in the electronic sphere, and begun work on ‘Next Thing’. Like its predecessor, half the album was written specifically for the project while the remainder builds upon home recordings.
Now she’s bringing those new songs, which find her entering new musical and lyrical terrain, to London. Tickets are available now.
