Afro Celt Sound System are celebrating their 20th anniversary with a new album, multiple summer festival appearances, and a UK national tour in the autumn.
The European- and African-based collective, with two Grammy nominations and album sales of 1.5-million to their name, bring their live show to The Barbican on 30 October 2016.
Due for release on 29 April, new album ‘The Source’ has already made its way into Afro Celt Sound System’s live shows, which kicked off 2016 with performances at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival and Islington’s Assembly Hall.
Live, the band features core members Simon Emmerson; Guinean vocalist, kora and balafon virtuoso N’Faly Kouyate; and dhol master Johnny Kalsi. They’re joined by percussionist Robbie Harris, fiddle-player Eòghann MacEanruig, Ged Lynch on drums,Simon ‘Palmskin’ Richmond on keyboards and electronica, Val Etienne on backing vocals, and Gaelic rapper Griogair.
