Gulp have released the video for their new single ‘Search For Your Love’ – and announced a London show.
The Cardiff-based duo, featuring Super Furry Animals’ Guto Pryce and singer Lindsey Leven are playing The Social on 14 February.
“I get really vivid dreams and often wake up with tunes or stories in my head and lyrically this is one of those,” says Leven of ‘Search For Your Love. “it’s a timeless love story really, but nods towards an eager search for love and empathy in an increasingly surreal and chaotic world.”
The video, directed by Mark James, echoes those sentiments.
“On a late night journey back from Bristol after a Super Furry Animals gig, we came across this broken digital screen at a bus stop,” says the director. “Flickering away, creating these incredible random psychedelic patterns. I thought it could be great to use this as the basis for the video. Creating a loose narrative with the bus stop. We filmed the display for the length of the track, and using it as it happens. It was kind of a happy accident.”
The song was recorded on a farm in mid Wales during the summer of 2016 before being finished with Luke in Norwich in October. It follows their 2014 debut ‘Season Sun’, and is a taster of their forthcoming second album.
Formed when Scottish-born Leven moved to Cardiff and met Pryce at a Christmas psych party, the band (also featuring permanent member Gid Goundrey on guitar) have toured with the likes of Django Django and appeared at festivals including Glastonbury and End of the Road.
