ELLA gets up close and personal at Camden Assembly

ELLA, Dutch-Swiss musician Ella van der Woude, will be performing songs from her just-released self-titled EP at Camden Assembly on 26 January.

Tickets are available now.

Van Der Woude, who previously composed music for film, fronted indie rock band Houses, and performed as a touring member of Amber Arcades, wrote most of the EP in her bedroom.

Working with producer and long time Massive Attack collaborator Stew Jackson, recently responsible for the Hope Sandoval-sung ‘The Spoils’ and Ghostpoet-collab ‘Come Near Me’, Van Der Woude crafted songs like  ‘IDWTGTKY’ and ‘While You Are Away’ using little more than her voice, Juno synth, and baritone guitar.

The result is a collection of songs “rendered with an assured warmth, sensuality, and self-possession” that “portray complex prickly emotions with confident sleight of hand”.
