Pierre Kwenders is headed to London in May.
The Afro-Canadian singer/songwriter performs a DJ set at The Old Blue Last on 17 May, before hitting the stage at Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen on 23 May as part of POP Montreal’s POP Off Europe tour with Mozart’s Sister.
Coinciding with the tour, the Montreal-via-Congo musician has released ‘Woods of Solitude’, the first single from his upcoming album.
“Since most of the recording was done in Seattle,” says Kwenders, “I figured it was just natural to capture the essence of that city in the video. I wrote the song thinking what could it be if I could just be and not trying to follow anything or anybody.”
The song, and its parent album (due in September), was produced by Seattle-based Fly Guy Dai (aka Tendai Maraire of Shabazz Palaces) and follows his 2014 debut LP ‘Le Dernier Empereur Bantou’.
