London-based trio Dream Wife have announced their new EP, ‘Fire’, and shared the title track.
Following the EP’s release on 29 September, they’ll be setting out on a headline UK tour in October, culminating in their biggest headline show yet at Scala on 25 October.
“It’s a song of explosive emotion; volcanic, eruptive, and reflective in turn,” say the group members, describing ‘Fire’.
“During moments of pure connection a bolt of fire can be felt between people. The explosion begins; movement is electric, conversation erratic and you become fully immersed in the moment. Thematically and tonally we explore the paradox present in the symbolism of ‘fire’ as both a creative and destructive force,” explain Rakel Mjöll (vocals), Alice Go (guitar and vocals), and Bella Podpadec (bass and vocals).
The EP also includes the previously released single ‘Somebody’.
“Somebody is a ballad for women,” say the band. “The song explores the experience of living in a female body within our society. It’s a conversation on the reclamation of bodies by the women who occupy them in a tender, yet direct and empowering way.”
Since forming at art school in Brighton, the pop-punk band have supported the likes of Sleigh Bells and The Kills, made their US debut at SXSW, and, most recently, played several summer festivals including Blue Dot, Benicassim, Latitude, and Truck.
