“This doesn’t suck,” says Sturgill Simpson, taking in the view from the Shepherd’s Bush Empire stage.

The first time he performed in London, little over two years ago, was at The Slaughtered Lamb to, at most, 120 people. Now he’s packed out a 2000-capacity theatre that, he points out, has played host to Bowie, Prince, and ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’. If he’s at all intimidated by the venue’s pedigree or the size of the audience, the Grammy nominee doesn’t show it. Instead, he more than delivers on a promise to work extra hard to win over a bored-looking man in the front row.

Ian Hunter crossing his fingers at Shepherd’s Bush Empire

Ian Hunter is heading to Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 11 November 2016, with a new album in tow.

‘Fingers Crossed’ is the follow-up to 2012’s ‘When I’m President’ and features ‘Dandy’, his homage to David Bowie.

“I think ‘Dandy’ might be my favourite track on the album,” admits the singer who first worked with Bowie on Mott The Hoople’s 1972 breakout ‘All The Young Dudes’. “David was an incredible artist with an insatiable curiosity for everything.”

White Lies get friendly at Shepherd’s Bush Empire

White Lies are back with a new single, album, and European tour.

The London trio have teased ‘Friends’, due for release on 7 October, with the song ‘Take It Out On Me’. They will be backing the album with an extensive live campaign that includes a stop at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 22 November 2016.

Heaven 17 and B.E.F. join forces

Heaven 17 are celebrating the 35th anniversary of their debut album, ‘Penthouse & Pavement’, with a series of UK shows that culminate in a performance at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 30 October 2016. 

Glenn Gregory and Martyn Ware will be performing a new electronic version of the LP in full before B.E.F. (British Electric Foundation), on their first ever live tour, play their own set.

Sturgill Simpson sailing to Shepherd’s Bush Empire

Sturgill Simpson is headed to London as part of a European tour that also includes main stage slots at major summer festivals like Latitude and Roskilde.

The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter plays Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 15 July 2016 in support of his latest album, ‘A Sailor’s Guide To Earth’.

Simpson’s third full-length LP and follow-up to 2014’s critically acclaimed ‘Metamodern Sounds In Country Music’ was written as a letter to his first child, born in the summer of 2014.

Broken Witt Rebels sharing ‘Georgia Pine’ on tour

Broken Witt Rebels storm into 2016 with a new EP and a series of live dates.

The band, who release the five track ‘Georgia Pine’ in April, play London Water Rats on 2 April 2016. They return to the capital a little over a month later (at Shepherd’s Bush Empire on 8 May) as the main support on Brantley Gilbert’s UK tour.
